Robot Will Not Turn On
- Battery discharged: Place the robot on its charging dock and confirm the charging contacts are aligned correctly.
- Dock has no power: Check the wall outlet, dock power cable, adapter connection, and circuit breaker.
- Charging contacts dirty: Wipe the robot charging contacts and dock contacts with a clean, dry cloth.
- Battery protection mode: Leave the robot on the charging dock for several hours, then restart it according to the model instructions.
- Power button not pressed correctly: Press and hold the Clean, Start, or Home button as directed for your specific model.
Robot Will Not Charge
- Charging contacts misaligned: Reposition the robot on the dock so the charging contacts touch securely.
- Dock location unsuitable: Place the dock against a wall on a level floor with a clear area around it.
- Dock cable loose: Check that the power cable is fully connected to both the dock and the wall outlet.
- Contacts dirty: Clean the metal contacts on the robot and charging dock using a dry cloth.
- Battery issue: If the robot will not charge after cleaning contacts and confirming power, consult the model-specific manual for battery service information.
Robot Cannot Find the Charging Dock
- Dock blocked: Remove shoes, boxes, furniture, cables, or other objects around the charging dock.
- Dock moved during cleaning: Keep the charging dock in the same location, especially while the robot is mapping the home.
- Low lighting: Improve room lighting if your robot model depends on visual navigation.
- Charging contacts dirty: Clean the robot and dock contacts to help the robot recognize and connect to the dock.
- Robot started too far away: Return the robot manually to the dock, recharge it, and then begin another cleaning cycle.
Robot Stops, Beeps, or Shows an Error
- Wheel blocked: Turn the robot over and remove hair, thread, pet fur, dust, or debris from the drive wheels.
- Side brush jammed: Remove the side brush and clean hair or debris from the brush mount.
- Main brush blocked: Remove the brush rollers and clean hair, fibers, and debris from the rollers and end caps.
- Cliff sensor dirty: Wipe the cliff sensors on the underside of the robot with a dry cloth.
- Robot trapped: Clear cords, thresholds, thick rugs, furniture gaps, low obstacles, and narrow spaces that can trap the robot.
Brush Roll or Extractor Problems
- Hair wrapped around rollers: Remove the main brush rollers or extractors and clean them thoroughly.
- End caps dirty: Remove the end caps and clear hair, thread, and debris that may stop the rollers from spinning.
- Brush rollers installed incorrectly: Reinstall the rollers in the correct orientation according to the color-coded or model-specific guide.
- Cleaning head blocked: Check the intake opening and roller housing for compacted debris.
- Rollers worn: Replace worn or damaged rollers if cleaning performance remains poor after maintenance.
Poor Cleaning Performance
- Dust bin full: Empty the bin after each cleaning cycle or whenever the bin-full alert appears.
- Filter dirty: Tap loose dust from the filter or replace it according to the manual. Do not wash filters unless your model specifically allows it.
- Side brush worn: Replace the side brush if bristles are bent, missing, or no longer reach edges effectively.
- Brush rollers clogged: Remove hair, strings, pet fur, and debris from the rollers and end caps.
- Cleaning schedule too infrequent: Increase cleaning frequency for homes with pets, carpets, children, or high foot traffic.
Auto-Empty Dock Problems
- Dock does not empty bin: Confirm the robot is fully seated on the dock and that the dock has power.
- Bag full: Replace the disposal bag when it is full or when the dock indicates that replacement is needed.
- Weak emptying suction: Check the dock inlet, evacuation port, bag compartment, and airflow channels for blockage.
- Dust escapes from dock: Confirm the bag is installed correctly and that the bag compartment door is fully closed.
- Robot bin blocked: Remove the robot bin and inspect the evacuation port for compacted debris.
Roomba Combo® & Mop Problems
- No water dispensing: Fill the water tank correctly, reinstall it securely, and inspect the water outlet for blockage.
- Mop pad not attached: Confirm the mop pad is installed correctly before starting a mopping cycle.
- Streaks or poor mopping: Wash or replace the mop pad and avoid using excess cleaning solution.
- Robot avoids mop areas incorrectly: Check the app settings, keep mapping data updated, and verify room boundaries or no-mop zones.
- Water tank leaking: Check the tank cap, seals, and mounting position. Do not overfill the water tank.
Braava® Mop Robot Problems
- Pad not wet enough: Fill the reservoir correctly and make sure the pad is attached firmly.
- Robot leaves streaks: Use a clean pad, avoid excess cleaning solution, and clean the wheels and bottom sensors.
- Robot stops during mopping: Check wheels, sensors, battery charge, and pads for dirt or obstruction.
- Charging issue: Clean the charging contacts and confirm the charging dock has power.
- Water tank not recognized: Remove and reinstall the tank, then inspect the connectors and seals for dirt or damage.
Wi-Fi & iRobot Home App Problems
- Cannot connect to Wi-Fi: Confirm that the router supports the correct Wi-Fi band for your robot and follow the setup instructions in the iRobot Home app.
- Robot appears offline: Check router power, Wi-Fi coverage near the dock, and the robot battery level.
- App cannot find robot: Restart the robot, confirm Bluetooth permissions if required, and repeat the app pairing process.
- Cleaning schedule not running: Check that the robot is charged, connected to Wi-Fi, and not paused by a software update or error alert.
- Map does not update: Keep doors open while mapping, avoid moving the dock, and clean cameras or sensors before starting a new run.
Noise, Odor & Maintenance Tips
- Loud noise: Check the brush rollers, side brush, wheels, bin, and intake path for hard objects or tangled hair.
- Grinding noise: Stop the robot and inspect wheel modules, roller end caps, and brush assemblies for jammed debris.
- Musty odor: Empty the dust bin, replace or clean filters where applicable, and dry mopping parts fully before storage.
